DAVID FRIEDMAN
David is currently a student at Dartmouth College in New
Hampshire. He is working towards a Bachelor’s Degree in history, with a
special focus on colonialism and the developing world. David garnered
many academic awards during his high school career, in Gainesville,
Florida, and also graduated at the top of his class. In addition, David
was an active participant in several humanitarian groups, including Key
Club International, and spearheaded numerous fundraising initiatives for
charitable organizations, such as Heifer International and the Caribbean
Conservation & Sea Turtle Survival League.
More recently, David devoted two terms to the study of
African history. This process prompted him to conduct extensive research
on the role of Islam in the independence movements of post-WW2 Africa.
Through this coursework and exposure to advocacy groups, David has
become determined to facilitate the spread of democracy and human rights
around the world. He relishes this task, as he believes that the
obligation for change rests with the more privileged citizens of the
Western world. In the future, David hopes to convince more of his
college peers of the importance of the work of organizations such as
PICAM, and the value of democracy and human rights.
