FRANKLINE ATEMKENG AWUNG - BA & Maitrise (Yde)
Frankline is an Information and communication expert whose work has revolved around capacity building and social justice. He believes that progressive awareness is a fundamental prerequisite to a strong civil society capable of effecting real change in Africa. He is currently the Chief Information Officer (CIO) of the International Institute for Demographic Research and Training, better known by its French acronym, IFORD.

 

Frankline obtained his Bachelors and Masters Degrees (Maitrise) in Mass Communication from the Advanced School of Mass Communication, University of Yaounde II – Cameroon. He also holds a Graduate Certificate in Communication, Globalisation, and Change.

 

He has worked as a Communication Officer with the Cameroon Ministry of Higher Education in Cameroon and he is affiliated to several human rights organisations. He also worked as Information and Project Assistant with the Capacity Building Programme (CBP) of the Netherlands Development Organisation (SNV), where he managed a network of NGOs working in the area of Governance, Environment, Gender, Social justice, and Development. He has equally volunteered with organisations working in the field of development and humanitarian assistance.

 

Franklin has carried out extensive research on the impact of Communication in Governance, Peace building, and Social justice projects. His experience has enabled him to make a great contribution in the building of a strong civil society in Cameroon and the progressive awareness of the role of non-governmental organisations in nation building. Frankline acts as a freelance Development Communicator and serves as consultant to several civil society organisations.
