JAIY MAURICE NGUM - LLB Hons (Buea); LLM (Dschang).

Maurice is a human rights defender with a Bachelors Degree in Law (LLB) from the University of Buea - Cameroon, a Masters Degree in Law (LLM) from the University of Dschang – Cameroon, and Masters Degree in Law (LLM) from the George Washington University – USA. Maurice was the pioneer Public Relations Officer of the University of Buea OAU Club and has since remained very active in the field of human rights and democracy.

 

Jaiy has vast experience and commitment to the promotion of democratic principles and has been a strong advocate for positive democratic change in Cameroon. As a student, he participated in school human rights clubs and also participated in the Moot Court Competitions organized at the University of Buea.

 

Jaiy has seven years of legal and human rights experience. Over the years, Jaiy has worked in close collaboration with professional human rights organizations in Cameroon. He has also written several legal articles in human rights newsletters, including “The  Legal rights  and  Obligations  of  Prisoners  and  Detainees in  Anglophone Cameroon” and “Human  rights  and  Cultural practices in  Cameroon”.
