The Cameroon Leadership Forum project (CLF) supports
PICAM’s
Democracy and
Human Rights programs. It is premised on the
fact that an understanding of the nature of
challenges facing Cameroon and Cameroonians is
crucial to poverty eradication, economic
reconstruction, human development, good governance,
respect for human rights, and the establishment of a
sustainable democracy in Cameroon.
The CLF project consists of a series of small scale events,
mostly expert speeches, discussions, and debates
about some of the most pressing challenges facing
Cameroon. The speaking events will be organized as a
town hall conversations and PICAM may from time to
time join forces with other organizations or
entities in the United States and in Cameroon to
organize events under the banner of the Cameroon
Leadership Forum.
The guest and expert speakers will be
selected fundamentally for their knowledge in a
specific field essential to the vision for
the building of a democracy in Cameroon. In addition to this,
care will be taken to ensure that speakers satisfy
highly calibrated criteria, among which is their
intellectual standing, professional experience,
commitment to democratic values, and viewpoint for a
visionary leadership in Cameroon.
The promotion of the above lofty principles is at the core
of the activities of PICAM. Therefore
PICAM advocates for and carries out activities that
call for decision makers to ensure that public
policies have informed basis, rooted in proven
strategies for economic development, democratic
participation, and political stability. The CLF
project will go a long way to empower members of the
public to be able to appraise whether government
actions are rooted in democratic principles.
The Cameroon Leadership Forum project will also seek to
mobilize Cameroonian youths on reform centered
ideals such as positive leadership qualities,
ethics, and accountability. It will provide
Cameroonian youths with the opportunity to meet with
various experts on diverse topics and give them the
opportunity not just to listen an ask questions, but
to be able to learn from their personal experience
and individual character of these experts.
